Welcome to Friarly Vets, a trusted name in equine veterinary care in South West Wales. Led by Richard, an experienced reproductive veterinary surgeon, we work across a wide range of equine services tailored to meet the needs of both horse and owner.
Our expertise extends beyond reproductive services such as mare preparation, pre-breeding diagnostics, pregnancy scanning, semen collection and evaluation, and Artificial Insemination (AI). We also provide general equine healthcare, including routine vaccinations, dental care, lameness assessments, and emergency services.
With dedicated scanning appointments available from April to June and boarding facilities for AI mares, we are committed to delivering exceptional care. At Friarly Vets, we combine expertise, passion, and personalised service to ensure your horse’s health and performance are always our priority.

Tetanus/Flu/Herpes.
Once registered on our system, you will receive reminders for when your horse is due so that you’ll never need to restart our vaccines again!

The team can advise and guide you through any breeding queries you have. Services include routine mare preparation, pre-breeding (CEM) swabs and blood tests (EVA and EIA), pregnancy scanning, semen collection/evaluation and Artificial Insemination (AI).
Routine scanning appts (April-June) at the surgery everyday from 5pm to 7:30pm for only £20/scan. Call for more details
Boarding available for all AI mares

From 12 month dental examinations to advanced dental procedures - we offer a variety of dental treatments including cheek tooth extractions and diastema management.

A good colt makes an excellent gelding!
The surgical removal of both testicles and associated structures including the epididymis and distal aspect of the spermatic cord.
Mostly done under standing sedation, with a minority done under general anaesthesia to negate risks on a case by case basis.
We also remove testicles from cryptorchid colts (rigs). This is done under general anaesthesia.
